CHENG Chun

CHENG Chun is an Associate Professor (tenured) at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He earned his BSc and MSc in Physics from Huazhong Normal University in 2002 and 2004, followed by a PhD from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2009. After postdoctoral research at HKUST (2009-2011) and University of California, Berkeley (2011-2013), he joined SUSTech in 2013. His research focuses on advanced functional materials, particularly micro-nano structure regulation and applications in energy, catalysis, and intelligent systems.

Dr. Cheng's research spans energy materials (e.g., TENG devices, solar cells), two-dimensional materials (scale preparation, green transfer technology), and functional structures derived from phase transitions. His work emphasizes scalable fabrication and device integration, combining experimental and applied approaches.

The five representative articles highlight expertise in perovskite solar cells, phase transitions in vanadium dioxide, and catalyst design for water splitting. These publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary themes in materials synthesis, electrochemistry, and renewable energy systems.
