Busayawan Lam

Dr Busayawan Lam is a Reader and Head of Brunel Design School at Brunel University London, within the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences. Her academic expertise spans New Product Development (NPD), Innovation Strategy and Management, and Design Strategy.

Her research focuses on co-design, community-led design, and social innovation, with a strong emphasis on user experience, immersive technologies, and civic engagement. She has led interdisciplinary projects and publications in these areas, particularly in museum and gallery sectors.

Recent publications highlight trends in co-design applications, immersive technologies in cultural exchange, and design for wellbeing. Awards include Senior Fellow (SFHEA) and roles as Recognised Programme Developer (RPD) and Academic Lead of Design Factory London.

Dr Lam supervises PhD students in topics such as participatory design, health literacy, and 4DP textile applications. She contributes to academic leadership as a member of the College Management Board and block leader for postgraduate modules like DM5555 and DX5601.

External affiliations include serving on the editorial board of the Strategic Design Research Journal, advising the Master of Industrial Design program at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and participating in the Design Business & Technology Management Program at Thammasat University.
