Dr Burak Salgin is a Consultant Neonatologist and Programme Lead to the MSc Advanced Neonatal Practice at Queen Mary University of London, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Barts Health NHS Trust. He completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching (Higher Education).
His research focuses on developing soft- and hardware solutions for cardio-respiratory monitoring in newborn infants, alongside collaborations to risk-stratify neonatal cases of necrotizing enterocolitis and bilious vomiting. As an educator, he leads a distance-learning course for Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and supervises multi-disciplinary MSc and PhD students.
He is based at the Blizard Institute, a leading center for biomedical research, and works in the medico-surgical tertiary neonatal unit at Royal London Hospital and the London Neonatal Transfer Service.
