Cheryl Battersby is a Clinical Associate Professor in Neonatal Medicine at Imperial College London's School of Public Health (part of the Faculty of Medicine) and an Honorary Consultant Neonatologist at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. She also serves as BAPM Honorary Secretary (2023-2026) and Deputy Chair of the NIHR HTA Prioritisation Committee for Hospital Based Care. Her roles include theme lead for Neonatal Medicine at the Imperial College Centre for Paediatrics and Child Health (PaeCH).
Education: BMBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) from the University of Nottingham (1998-2003), BMedSci Honours (1998-2001), PhD in neonatal epidemiology from Imperial College London (2011-2016), and FRCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health).
Research focuses on improving lifelong outcomes for preterm infants through large-scale data linkage projects like neoWONDER (NIHR Advanced Fellowship, 2020-2025). Her work examines neonatal interventions, necrotising enterocolitis (NEC) epidemiology, and global health initiatives in low-resource settings. She leads the Neonatal Data Analysis Unit and co-founded NeoTRIPS, a trainee-led research initiative.
