Bryce Lewis is a casual Research Officer at the Mitchell Institute, Victoria University. He submitted a thesis in 2025 titled ‘All in this together?’ Precarity, uncertainty and abandonment: A Foucauldian analysis of young people’s experiences of long-term unemployment and living in Melbourne’s west during COVID-19 lockdowns. His work focuses on unemployment models, education equity, and youth pathways. He recently completed an internship with the Victorian Skills Authority, contributing to research on vocational education teaching.
Areas of expertise include:
- Sport integrity in community sport
- Alternatives to Workfare unemployment policies
- Conditions supporting equity in education policy
- Youth transitions to higher education and vocational training
Prior to this role, Bryce worked in community services, supporting vulnerable populations including young people at risk of homelessness, youth in residential care, and students from low socioeconomic/migrant backgrounds. He has also volunteered with organizations addressing youth disengagement from education.
