Bryan Bourne has served as Instructor of Music - Brass at St. Mary's College of Maryland since 1990. A professional trombonist, he holds ensemble positions with 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band (Washington D.C.), Alexandria Symphony Orchestra (principal), and Baltimore Opera Orchestra (second trombone).
Bourne's pedagogical approach combines extensive performance experience with dedicated studio instruction. Beyond his college teaching, he maintains a private studio in Alexandria, Virginia, training students across skill levels. His career includes performances with the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, and participation in chamber ensembles including Washington Symphonic Brass and Percussion Ensemble.
He holds a Master of Music from Catholic University and Bachelor of Music (with high honors) from Indiana University, having studied with Lewis Van Haney, Keith Brown, and Milton Stevens.
