Brookie Best

Dr. Brookie Best is a Professor and Dean holding dual appointments in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego. Her research focuses on maternal-fetal and pediatric pharmacology, particularly HIV drug development and Kawasaki disease treatment. She leads NIH-funded training programs and serves on national HIV treatment guidelines committees.

Research interests include antiretroviral pharmacokinetics, drug penetration into CNS, and pediatric drug safety. Over 160 published studies cover topics like HIV drug dosing in pregnancy and Kawasaki disease treatments.

Awards include multiple Professor of the Year honors and the Distinguished Teaching Award. She advises NIH training programs and collaborates internationally through networks like IMPAACT.
