Dr. Britney Kyle is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Northern Colorado, specializing in bioarchaeology and human adaptation. As co-director of the Bioarchaeology of Mediterranean Colonies Project (BMCP), she investigates human health and social change during Greek colonization in the Mediterranean basin. Her research examines skeletal remains from Albania, Italy, and Greece to understand adaptation during periods of social and environmental disruption.
Her research interests include:
- Bioarchaeology of Mediterranean colonization
- Analysis of physiological stress in ancient populations
- Isotopic studies of diet and migration patterns
- Social variation in ancient urban environments
- Greek colonial interactions in the Balkans
Dr. Kyle actively involves undergraduate students in field research and laboratory analysis through NSF-funded programs. Her publications frequently appear in leading journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, and PLOS One.
