Bright Alozie

Bright Alozie is an Associate Professor in the Black Studies Department at Portland State University, where he also coordinates the African Studies Certificate Program and holds affiliate appointments in History and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. His research intersects colonial and postcolonial African history, gender studies, and decolonial thought, emphasizing oral histories and community engagement.

Dr. Alozie's publications span topics like petition-writing as resistance, West African soldiers’ marriages, and eroticism in Igbo art. His work has been supported by grants from the African Humanities Program, the Hagley Library, and the Hayek Fund for Scholars.
