Brian Phillips is a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania's Weitzman School of Design and founding Principal of ISA, a design research office focused on urban challenges in post-industrial American cities. He holds an MArch from the University of Pennsylvania and a BS from the University of Oklahoma.
Phillips' practice investigates adaptive reuse, housing innovation, and community-centered urban regeneration. His firm ISA has received over fifty design awards, including five AIA National Housing Awards, and was named 2020 Firm of the Year by AIA Pennsylvania. His work explores material innovation, thermal regulation systems, and sustainable urban interventions.
Awards include the 2011 Pew Fellowship in the Arts and 2015 Emerging Voice designation from the Architectural League of New York. Projects have been featured in ARCHITECT, The New York Times, Metropolis, and NPR.
