Brian Lutz

Dr. Brian Lutz is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Delaware Valley University, where he has served full-time since 2006. He specializes in contemporary literature, geocriticism, and spatial analysis in fantasy and science fiction narratives, blending critical theory with creative writing expertise.

• Education: Ph.D. in Literature & Criticism (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), MFA in Creative Writing (Long Island University), BA in English/History (Bloomsburg University)

His research emphasizes the relationship between geography and literary representation, particularly in speculative genres. He pioneered DelVal's international Place Studies courses, which contextualize literature through on-site cultural and historical immersion. Dr. Lutz also teaches poetry workshops and science fiction/fantasy literature courses.
