Brian Horton studies mountain building processes and sedimentary basin development along convergent plate margins. His work integrates sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochronology, geochemistry, and structural geology to investigate modern and ancient orogenesis, plateau construction, sediment provenance, and river network evolution. Current projects emphasize the uplift of the Andes and the growth of major South American river systems.
