About
Prof Brian Corcoran is the Head of the School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Dublin City University (DCU). He holds the academic rank of Professor and has served as Associate Dean of Education (2014–2017), leading academic excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. A Chartered Engineer, he is affiliated with the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, IMechE, and other professional bodies. His research focuses on Sustainable Energy, Wireless Sensor Networks, Pharmaceutical Water Systems, Lab-on-a-Chip Technology, and the Energy-Water Nexus. He leads the Energy Systems Integration Project (ESIPP), a major multi-institutional initiative. Prof Corcoran has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and holds the President’s Award for Teaching and Learning (2017), recognizing his innovative pedagogy and student-centric approach.

His engineering group supports major projects such as ESIPP and CLARITY, fostering industrial and academic networks.
Teaching & Outreach: He champions CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) methodologies and oversees outreach programs like the Siemens Greenpower Challenge. His teaching philosophy emphasizes student diversity and has been nationally recognized.
