Professor Brenda Yeoh serves as Professor in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where she has lectured continuously since 1991. She co-principal investigator for the Asian Metacentre Headquarters and acts as Singapore coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Migration Research Network.

Research Focus: As a leading social geographer, Professor Yeoh specializes in population dynamics with emphasis on migration patterns, gendered labor mobility, and family structures across Southeast Asia. Her work critically examines paid domestic labor systems, transnational childcare arrangements, skilled migration flows to China, and intergenerational fertility relationships within Singapore's socio-demographic context.
Professional Contributions: She has co-authored foundational texts including Gender and Migration (Edward Elgar, 2000) and Gender Politics in the Asia-Pacific Region (Routledge, 2002), alongside 60+ journal articles and 40+ book chapters. Professor Yeoh serves on editorial boards for Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography, Gender, Place and Culture, and Asia-Pacific Migration Journal.
Research Leadership: Current projects include Transnational Labour Migration and the Family in Southeast Asia and Intergenerational Relationships, Fertility and the Family in Singapore. She collaborates internationally through the International Geographical Union’s Geography and Gender Commission and previously partnered with MPI-MMG on the GLOBALDIVERCITIES project under Steve Vertovec.
