Brant Houston

Brant Houston is a Professor and Knight Chair in Investigative and Enterprise Reporting at the Department of Journalism, College of Media, University of Illinois. He oversees the online newsroom CU-CitizenAccess.org, a hub for digital innovation and data journalism.

Research Focus: Houston specializes in nonprofit journalism newsrooms, digital tools for news-gathering, and new business models for journalism. His work explores the intersection of investigative reporting, technological advancements, and media sustainability.

• Books Authored: Changing Models for Journalism (2023), Computer-Assisted Reporting: A Practical Guide (5th ed., 2019), and The Investigative Reporter's Handbook (6th ed., 2020).
• Co-Founded: Global Investigative Journalism Network (2003) and Institute for Nonprofit News (2009).
