Brady R. McElligott

Brady R. McElligott serves as Associate Professor of Music in Opera and Voice and Director of Opera Studies at The University of Tulsa within the Kendall College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Music.

His educational background includes:

• M.M. in Music Composition, The Florida State University (Dissertation: "Field Songs")
• B.M. in Music Composition, The Florida State University
• A.A. in Music, Brevard Community College

McElligott's research and professional expertise spans Opera, Voice, Composition, and Collaborative Piano. With 15 years as musical director/coach working alongside opera diva Marilyn Tyler at The University of New Mexico, he brings extensive practical experience to his academic role. His career includes performances with Opera Southwest, University of New Mexico Opera Theatre, La Zarzuela de Alburquerque, and the Santa Fe Opera's Pueblo Opera Program.

Professional highlights include serving as Korrepetitor at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and directing community opera programs. His creative output features recordings of original compositions for bassoon/piano (with William Dietz and Paula Fan) and vocal works (with Judith Raiford), available on Amazon. At TU since 2007, he teaches voice, diction, vocal pedagogy, and opera literature while directing the opera studies program.
