Dr. Brad Nelson is a Professor of Biochemistry/Microbiology at the University of Victoria and Professor of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia. He serves as Distinguished Scientist and Founding Director of the Deeley Research Centre. His research focuses on developing immunotherapies for cancer, studying immune interactions across disease stages, and advancing clinical trials.
Education: BSc (Hons) from UBC and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. Postdoctoral training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Research emphasizes genomic analysis of immune responses in ovarian, breast, prostate, and lymphoid cancers, alongside engineering precision immune cells for therapy. Collaborates on clinical trials to translate findings into patient care.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Nelson Lab at the Deeley Research Centre, part of BC Cancer’s Immunotherapy Program.
