Bonnie Metzgar

Bonnie Metzgar is a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago's School of Theatre and Music. A playwright, director, and producer specializing in socially-provocative theatre, she previously served as Artistic Director of About Face Theatre, the largest US theatre dedicated to advancing dialogue on sexuality, politics, and gender identity.

Her creative research includes the play 'You Lost Me' which premiered at the Denver Center, and co-creation of the international 365 Festival project with Pulitzer winner Suzan-Lori Parks. Metzgar's professional background includes founding Joe's Pub at The Public Theater under George C. Wolfe.

With extensive teaching experience at institutions including Brown University and Northwestern, Metzgar contributes to UIC's theatre program while maintaining active creative practice. Her work explores contemporary social issues through innovative theatrical forms and intercultural dialogues.
