Barbara Sostaita

Dr. Barbara Sostaita is an Assistant Professor in Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her research examines how religion shapes migrant-led organizing and sanctuary practices, particularly among Latinx communities. Her forthcoming book 'Sanctuary Everywhere' documents fugitive care practices in border regions.

She teaches courses on Latinx religions, transnational migration, and undocumented social movements. Her interdisciplinary work bridges religious studies, migration studies, and social movement theory.
