Birol Fitik

Prof. Dr. Birol Fitik serves as Professor of Structural Concrete Engineering and Dean of the Bachelor's program in Civil Engineering at Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences. He leads the New Research Fields (IAF) competence center and holds professional certification as a structural engineering inspector since 2023.

His research focuses on structural concrete engineering, specializing in shear design, ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), fatigue analysis, and sustainable earth construction techniques. Current projects include InDeckLe - developing innovative earth-composite floor systems for industrial construction. His work emphasizes experimental validation through comprehensive shear testing databases for reinforced concrete elements.

Prof. Fitik has established international recognition through co-editing the ACI-DAfStb shear databases (2020-2022), which compile global experimental data for evaluating concrete design methodologies. His publication record demonstrates sustained focus on shear behavior analysis across diverse concrete systems including lightweight variants and prestressed elements.

As Speaker of New Research Fields since 2018, he directs institutional research strategy while maintaining active roles in German structural engineering associations. His professional certification as VPI structural inspector underscores practical industry engagement alongside academic work.
