Birgit Grosse-Middeldorf holds the position of Full-time Lecturer in the Department of European Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Stony Brook University, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. She has been affiliated with the university since 1995, teaching a range of German language, literature, and culture courses. Her professional roles also include serving as Director of the SUNY Test Center for the “Prüfung Wirtschaftsdeutsch International” from 1993 to 1997 and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Hofstra University earlier in her career (1983–1990).
Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Elementary German, Intermediate German, Business German, German Conversation & Composition, and German Cinema after 1945. She has expertise in language pedagogy, German cultural studies, and business German instruction.
