Dr. Bill Tracy is Professor of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He directs the Sweet Corn Breeding Program and leads Team Sweet research group, focusing on genetics, biochemistry, and physiology of sweet corn quality. His work bridges traditional plant breeding with indigenous food sovereignty and participatory research methods.
Teaching includes Agronomy 100 (Crop Production), Organic Agriculture, and Agroecology courses. As founding faculty of the UW Organic Collaborative, Tracy advances sustainable agriculture through:
- Development of disease-resistant sweet corn varieties
- Collaborations on indigenous food system revitalization
- Policy analysis of intellectual property in agriculture
