Bill Hosterman is a Professor of Foundations, Drawing, and Printmaking at Grand Valley State University's Department of Visual and Media Arts. He serves as Area Coordinator for Foundations and Faculty Director of The Padnos Student Gallery. His work focuses on printmaking, drawing, and interdisciplinary art practices. Hosterman holds an MFA from Indiana University-Bloomington (1999) and a BFA from Penn State University (1995), supplemented by a Fulbright Grant in Southern Africa (1995-1996).
His research explores contemporary printmaking techniques, including wood relief, etching, and mixed media. Notable works from 2022-2023 include *Wash* (2023), *Amplify* (2023), and *Magnet* (2022), which experiment with geometric abstraction and material textures. Hosterman has exhibited nationally/internationally, including residencies at Jentel (Wyoming) and Ox-Bow (Michigan).
He teaches foundational courses like ART 155/157 Drawing and ART 265 Printmaking, emphasizing technical skill and conceptual development. His academic leadership includes coordinating the Foundations curriculum and mentoring students through the Padnos Gallery.
