Bilge Erten is an Associate Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Northeastern University, and a Faculty Scholar at the Institute for Health Equity and Social Justice Research. She holds a visiting Associate Professor position at Boston University's Institute for Economic Development (IED) (2021–2022). She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2010.
Her research focuses on Development Economics, emphasizing Gender, Health, and Education. Key areas include domestic violence, mental health disparities, and the socioeconomic impacts of global events like the pandemic. Recent projects analyze lockdown effects on mental health and domestic violence, using natural experiments such as age-specific curfews in Turkey.
