About
Dr. Bettina Baumgartner is a researcher at the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences within the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam. Her work focuses on catalysis, spectroscopy, and material science, with a particular emphasis on environmental chemistry and analytical sensing technologies.
Her research interests include the development of advanced materials for CO2 reduction and hydrogenation, the application of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in gas and water contamination sensing, and the integration of spectroscopic techniques like mid-infrared and Raman for trace analysis. She has published extensively in these areas, including 15 recent articles spanning 2025 to 2023, many of which explore in situ characterization of catalysts, MOF-based sensors, and sustainable chemical processes.
Her recent publications highlight trends in MOF functionalization for environmental monitoring, novel catalytic pathways for CO2 conversion, and innovative spectroscopic methods for studying molecular interactions. She collaborates with researchers globally, including institutions in Australia, the UK, and the USA.
She can be contacted via email at b.baumgartner@uva.nl.
