Beth Garcia is the Sylvia Nugent Professor of Education and Associate Professor of ESL/Bilingual Education at West Texas A&M University’s Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences since 2012. She holds a B.A. in English (2002) and M.Ed. in Reading Specialist (2008) from WTAMU, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction – Language and Literacy from Texas Tech University (2013).
Her research focuses on adolescent literacy, ESL teaching methodologies, and the pedagogical use of series books. She also explores gender studies and adolescent identity development. Professional engagements include co-chairing the Dia de los Muertos Committee, co-sponsoring Kappa Delta Pi, and serving on the Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Undergraduate Education Advisory Council. She actively contributes to the Go Global initiative within her college.
Teaching responsibilities include ESL methods and language development courses. Though no specific awards are listed, her involvement in academic leadership roles highlights her contributions to education and diversity initiatives.
