About
Beth Barz is a Teaching Professor at Queen’s University’s School of Kinesiology and Health Studies. She is currently pursuing a PhD Candidate in Coach Development within multisport and sport-specific contexts. Her roles extend beyond academia to include high school teaching, Master Coach Developer, World Rugby Trainer, and Facilitator/Mentor Coach for the Canadian Sport Institutes’ Advanced Coaching Diploma program. She emphasizes adult learning principles and values-based leadership in her work with high-performance coaches.
Research interests include practical applications of coaching philosophy, leadership decision-making, and the integration of pedagogical strategies in sport education. Her coaching career spans 20 seasons in university varsity rugby (men’s and women’s) and involvement with Ontario senior women’s teams, directly informing her teaching in courses like KNPE 337 – Physical Activity Promotion for Children and Youth.
