Betel Fenta is a Research Fellow at the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. She is also part of KidsOR, an NGO dedicated to ensuring access to safe surgery for children globally. Dr. Fenta holds an MD from Mekelle University College of Health Sciences in Ethiopia and a Master's in Global Health Delivery with a focus on Gender, Sexual, and Reproductive Health from the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda.
Her research interests center on global surgery, pediatric surgical access, and gender equity in healthcare. She actively contributes to initiatives addressing systemic barriers to surgical care in low-resource settings, particularly for children and marginalized populations. Dr. Fenta’s work bridges clinical practice and public health, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to improve health outcomes worldwide.
