Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Bernd Kortmann is a Full Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Freiburg, Germany. His research focuses on the comparative grammar of non-standard English varieties from a typological perspective, with significant contributions to morphosyntactic variation, dialectology, and areal linguistics.
