Benoît Frydman, born in 1965, is a Belgian professor of law and a full professor at the Free University of Brussels. He is a leading figure in the Brussels School, specializing in the philosophy of law, global law, and the impact of artificial intelligence on legal reasoning. He serves as the director of the Perelman Center for Philosophy of Law and is a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium. Frydman has held visiting positions at institutions like the University of Oxford (2001-2002), Sciences Po School of Law (2010-2018), and Goethe University Frankfurt (2013-2016).
His research spans legal reasoning, normativity, and global law, focusing on unidentified legal objects (ULOs), technical standards, indicators, and algorithms in digital and globalized contexts.
