Benjamin Sovacool

Benjamin Sovacool holds dual professorships as Professor of Energy Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) within the University of Sussex Business School in the United Kingdom, and as Professor of Business and Social Sciences at Aarhus University's Department of Business Development and Technology in Denmark. He serves as Director of the Sussex Energy Group and previously directed the Center on Innovation and Energy Demand (CIED) across multiple UK institutions. Internationally recognized, he acts as a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Sixth Assessment Report and advises the European Commission on energy matters.

Professor Sovacool's research spans critical energy and climate domains including energy justice, climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, renewable energy systems, and energy security frameworks. His work examines the political dimensions of large-scale energy infrastructure, policy design for improved energy access, and building societal resilience to climate impacts.
