Benjamin Isakhan

Dr. Benjamin Isakhan is a Researcher affiliated with the Centre for Dialogue at La Trobe University in Australia. His work focuses on the history of democracy, political theory, and contemporary Middle Eastern politics, particularly in Iraq.

His recent scholarly output includes analyses of the symbolic dimensions of Baathist Iraq, the measurement of Islam in Australia, and mechanisms of political consent in Iraq. He is preparing several publications: a monograph titled Democracy in Iraq, and co-edited collections The Edinburgh Companion to the History of Democracy and The Secret History of Democracy with Stephen Stockwell. His research explores alternative historical narratives of democratic practices and institutions, challenging Eurocentric paradigms.
