Ben Shafer

Ben Shafer is an Adjunct Professor at Regis College, where he teaches Applied Horn in the Department of Music under the College of Fine and Performing Arts. He is a leading French horn player in Colorado and Wyoming, serving as Principal Horn for the Fort Collins Symphony and Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Shafer regularly performs with professional ensembles like the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in North Carolina
• Master of Arts in Horn Performance at the University of Colorado Boulder

Mr. Shafer's artistic practice extends beyond traditional orchestral roles. He creates interdisciplinary projects merging music with social advocacy, including recitals such as "Solely" (benefiting the ACLU) and "A Breath of Fresh Air" (addressing air quality and mindfulness). On April 15, 2023, he will debut the Ruth Gipps Horn Concerto in America as a soloist with the Cheyenne Symphony.

Active in education, he maintains a private teaching studio across the Front Range region. His musical contributions intersect with personal interests in cooking, meditation, and nature, reflecting his holistic approach to artistry.
