Beata Komar

Beata Komar is a University Professor at the Department of Fine Arts and Design within the Faculty of Architecture at Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Poland. Holding the titles of Dr. hab. (habilitated doctor, 2015), engineer, and architect, she maintains an active academic profile with 93 publications and a total ministerial score of 1,396.

Her primary research focuses on quality of the housing environment, visual arts in the built environment, universal design, and visual information. She developed the Urban Audit methodology for assessing housing estate spaces through sustainable development lenses (ecology, economy, society, culture), with emphasis on accessibility for blind and visually impaired users. Her monographic studies explore visual techniques (stained glass, mosaic, sgraffito) and solutions for memory phenomena in urban contexts.

Komar serves as Chairwoman of the Audit Committee of the Polish Ergonomics Society (Silesian Branch), member of the Architecture and Urban Planning Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Katowice Branch since 2007), and IAPS (International Association for People-Environment Study). As Dean's Representative for Publications and originator of the Architecture Students Film Festival, she actively shapes academic discourse while reviewing numerous scientific publications.
