Basil Alexander is an Assistant Professor joining the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University on July 1, 2025. He currently holds the same position at the University of New Brunswick's Faculty of Law and is pursuing a PhD in Law at Queen's University focused on cause lawyering. Previously, he practiced as a public interest lawyer in Toronto with notable involvement in the Ipperwash Inquiry and Toronto G20 class action litigation.
His research explores:
- Law as a tool for social change and public interest advocacy
- Civil procedure, litigation strategies, and legal ethics
- Rights related to demonstrations and peaceful assembly
