Basheerah Enahora

Basheerah Enahora is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences at North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on reducing health disparities in lower-resourced communities through innovative technologies like SMS and digital apps to improve dietary behaviors. She holds a PhD in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, an MBA from Duke University, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Her research interests include enhancing Extension nutrition programs with behavior-change theory, developing youth-driven interventions for adolescents, and expanding program reach via technology. She has received the 2024 Goodnight Early Career Innovator award and holds leadership roles in professional organizations like the Society of Nutrition Education & Behavior.

Dr. Enahora’s work emphasizes community partnerships and policy changes to build healthier environments. Her publications span digital health interventions, virtual reality in nutrition education, and behavioral nudges in military and low-income settings. She collaborates with organizations to design scalable solutions addressing food access and health equity.
