Barbara Koziak

Barbara Koziak is an Associate Professor of Government and Politics at St. John's University, serving as Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Minor. She holds a Ph.D. (1994) and M.Phil (1988) in Political Science from Yale University, alongside an M.A. (1987) and B.A. (1984) in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin.

Her research focuses on ancient political philosophy (particularly Aristotle), contemporary feminist theory, and intersections of emotion, democracy, and activism. She has authored Retrieving Political Emotion: Aristotle, Thumos and Gender and explores topics like truth commissions, family policy, and film's role in political education.

Dr. Koziak’s work bridges classical thought with modern social justice issues, emphasizing participatory democracy and gender analysis. Her office is located in St. John Hall Room 234 J.
