Barbara A. Blatner

Dr. Barbara A. Blatner is a Lecturer in the Department of English at Stern College for Women, Yeshiva University. She is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in playwriting, poetry, and composition, with two poetry collections, The Still Position and Living with You, forthcoming.

• Education: BA from Vassar College, MA from Boston University, and additional studies at State University of New York at Albany.

Her work spans creative writing and theatre, with notable plays including Years of Sky (2013) and No Star Shines Sharper. She composes music for stage productions and has collaborated with institutions like the Boston Shakespeare Company and Merrimack Repertory Company. Barbara teaches courses such as First Year Writing, Scriptwriting, and Writing Poetry.

Dr. Blatner founded the Albany Playwrights' Workshop, directing and producing works for four seasons. Her compositions include scores for Alice in Wonderland and the Boston Shakespeare Company’s Irish Plays season. She has received recognition for her creative contributions, including the Honorable Mention in the Actors and Writers Short Play Contest.
