Balthasar Novák

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Balthasar Novák serves as Deputy Director at the Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design, University of Stuttgart. His research spans seismic analysis of reinforced concrete structures, double-composite bridge systems, building management systems for infrastructure preservation, precast concrete innovations, and European bridge construction regulations.

Research focuses: Development of optimized seismic design methodologies for concrete discontinuity zones; implementation of steel-trapezoidal webs in bridge construction; creation of holistic maintenance frameworks for 38,000+ bridges under German federal responsibility; advancement of hollow-core slab technologies; refinement of Eurocode standards for structural safety.

International collaborations include partnerships with India's Structural Engineering Research Center and the University of Sarajevo.
