B. David Ridpath

B. David Ridpath is a Professor of Sports Business at Ohio University's College of Business, where he has held tenured roles since 2006. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Mississippi State University and held administrative roles in intercollegiate athletics at Marshall, Weber State, and Ohio Universities. His expertise spans NCAA governance, athlete academic performance, and ethical challenges in sports.

Dr. Ridpath holds an EdD from West Virginia University, an MSA from Ohio University, and a BA from Colorado State University. His research focuses on NCAA policy reforms, athlete rights, and global sport development models. He has authored over 30 journal articles, 10 book chapters, and two books, including Alternative Models of Sport Development in America (2018).

His accolades include the Keystroke Catalyst Award (2016, 2020), College of Business Outstanding Scholar Award (2016–17), and a Fulbright Scholarship (2014–15). Ridpath frequently testifies before Congress, serves as an expert witness, and contributes to media discussions on college sports reform. He leads initiatives like co-editing the Journal of NCAA Compliance and chairs the Drake Group, advocating for educational integrity in athletics.
