Ayoub Bagheri

Dr. Ayoub Bagheri is an Associate Professor of Natural Language Processing in the Department of Methodology and Statistics at Utrecht University. He coordinates the Special Interest Group in Text Mining and co-leads the Utrecht NLP Hub, a collaborative initiative supported by the Focus Areas Applied Data Science and Human-centered AI.

His research focuses on explainable and trustworthy AI, personalized NLP systems, language model evaluation, multimodal language understanding, and ethical NLP applications. He develops methods to make AI transparent and aligned with human values.

Bagheri teaches courses in Data Science, Text Mining, and NLP using Python and R, and coordinates the Applied Data Science master profile. His recent work examines explainability techniques for large language models and active learning approaches for systematic reviews.
