Axel Hagen

Axel Hagen is a Jazz Guitar specialist and Lecturer at the University of Music Würzburg since 2009. He teaches jazz guitar, theory, music history, improvisation, and composition.

Research Interests include jazz composition, arrangement for unconventional ensembles, and string quartet collaborations. He founded the ensemble Chamber9 in 2019, blending jazz with classical instrumentation.

Professional Highlights:

• Studied jazz guitar at Hilversum Academy of Music (NL) under Peter Nieuwerf and Wim Overgaauw.
• Member of the Metropole Orchestra (Netherlands Radio) from 1990–2002.
• Released 7 solo CDs and contributed to numerous recordings with artists like Lee Konitz and Chuck Israels.
• Founded his music label AxelHagenMusic in 2018.
