Austin Holland

Austin Holland is an Assistant Professor in the College of Natural Resources and an Extension Specialist at the Center for Land Use Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. His work bridges conservation governance, policy analysis, and geospatial methods to address environmental challenges. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Iowa (2022), an M.S. from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a B.S. from UW-Platteville.

Research Interests:

• Conservation policy impacts on private land management
• Ecosystem services and stakeholder perceptions
• Climate change adaptation in tourism sectors
• Geospatial analysis for landscape governance

Current projects include examining climate change’s effects on tourism and advancing collaborations in private land conservation. He teaches courses in qualitative methods, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and natural resources management.
