Aurora Kamimura

Aurora Kamimura is a Lecturer in Education and Assistant Provost for Inclusive Excellence at Washington University. Her 20+ year career focuses on broadening access, equity, and diversity across the P-20/professoriate pathway. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and has held administrative roles in student affairs and academic affairs, including positions as Associate Dean and outreach director.

Her research centers on organizational change mechanisms for diversifying academia, particularly in STEM fields, and equitable practices for Latinx/a/o, immigrant, and undocumented students. She has taught at institutions including UC Irvine, University of Louisville, and Southern Methodist University, emphasizing inclusive pedagogy through programs like the Program on Intergroup Relations.

Nationally, she serves as Treasurer-Elect for the American Association of Hispanics for Higher Education (AAHHE) and leads initiatives to diversify faculty through her role in Inclusive Excellence. Her work spans mixed-methods studies on faculty retention, strength-based recruitment strategies, and the emotional labor of diversity advocacy in graduate education.
