Auke Pols is Lecturer in responsible innovation and the ethics of technology at Wageningen University & Research, within the Knowledge, Technology and Innovation (KTI) group. He also serves as the PhD coordinator for the KTI group, organising skills training for doctoral candidates.
His research focuses on organising responsibility within socio-technical systems, with particular attention to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), innovation models beyond growth paradigms, and the moral responsibilities of engineers and technologies for shaping human behaviour. Empirically, his work has examined biofuel production in Tanzania and smart-grid implementation in India.
Pols’s publications span leading journals such as Science and Engineering Ethics, Policy Sciences, and Journal of Responsible Innovation, addressing themes from stakeholder involvement in design to the rationality of EU biofuel certification.
