Prof. Astrid Zimmermann is a Professor of Design and Construction at the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück since 2020, within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Landscape Architecture. She holds a Diplom in Landscape Architecture from TU Berlin (1998) and has extensive experience in academic and professional roles, including co-founding Zplus Landschaftsarchitektur (2009) and serving as a researcher at TU Berlin’s Landscape Construction and Object Building group (2003–2008).

Her research focuses on sustainable landscape design, material use in outdoor spaces, and technical aspects of urban planning. Key projects include developing evaluation systems for sustainable outdoor facilities and advising on public infrastructure projects. Zimmermann is a member of the German Association of Landscape Architects (bdla) and the Berlin Architects' Chamber.
Grants & Projects: Led research under the Bundesprogramm Zukunft Bau, including 'Leitfadens Nachhaltiges Bauen' and 'Bewertungssystem Nachhaltiges Bauen' (2010–2012). Active in jury roles for urban design competitions, including Berlin’s Rathausforum and Marx-Engels-Forum (2021) and Stralsund’s Schützenbastion redesign (2019).
Labs/Teams: Involved with the Competence Center for Sustainable Outdoor Facilities (KOMOBAR) and collaborates on interdisciplinary urban sustainability initiatives.
