Aske Mottelson is an Associate Professor in Human-Centered Data Science at the IT University of Copenhagen, where he also serves as Co-Head of Programme for the MSc in Digital Design and Interactive Technologies. Previously, he held roles as Assistant Professor (2021–2024), Postdoc at the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Psychology (2019–2021), and Visiting Scholar at MIT Media Lab (2017). He earned his PhD (Computer Science, 2019) and MSc (Computer Science, 2015) from the University of Copenhagen.
His research focuses on understanding user behavior in human-computer interaction, leveraging experimental psychology, data science, and virtual reality (VR). Key interests include body ownership illusions, text entry methods, and VR applications in education and public health. He advocates for open science and reproducibility, contributing to methodologies for improving empirical research in computer science.
