Ashley Cox

Dr. Ashley Cox is the Associate Director of the Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE) at the University of London and a Lecturer in Diplomacy and Public Policy at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He serves as Programme Director for the Global Diplomacy Programme, which operates across both institutions. Cox holds a PhD from the University of Leicester on Wilsonianism in American foreign relations and authored Wilsonian Approaches to American Conflicts: From the War of 1812 to the First Gulf War.

His research focuses on American foreign, defense, and diplomatic policy, alongside innovations in online education. He advocates for building online learning communities to enhance student support and has contributed to experiential learning initiatives, enabling students to engage directly with diplomatic practitioners. Cox is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and active in professional organizations like the British International Studies Association (BISA).

His work bridges historical policy analysis with modern educational practices, emphasizing practical engagement in international relations education. He has presented on online pedagogy at BISA forums and collaborates on initiatives to integrate real-world organizational interaction into academic programs.
