Dr. Arunasingam Abayasingam is a researcher at the University of New South Wales, affiliated with the Viral Immunology Systems Program. He completed his BSc (Honours) in 2016, focusing on pathology and pharmacology through a project investigating epidermal growth factor receptor targeted and metabolic inhibitor combination therapy in osteosarcomas.
His current research, initiated in 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Rowena Bull and Dr. Chaturaka Rodrigo, aims to characterize Hepatitis C Transmitted/Founder viruses, understand host-viral interactions during acute infection and re-infection, and develop a human tonsil organoid model to study disease mechanisms. This work has potential applications for designing protective HCV vaccines and advancing medical research.
