About
Dr. Netanel Tzarum is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Life Sciences, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, leading research in viral-host cell interactions. His work focuses on Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) and Bovine Coronavirus (BCoV), employing structural biology and biochemical approaches to elucidate viral entry mechanisms and immune recognition. He aims to develop vaccines and antiviral strategies to combat viral infections.
- Affiliations: Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Department of Biological Chemistry
- Key Research Areas: HCV neutralization, viral receptor interactions, structural vaccine design, antimicrobial proteins
His lab investigates viral entry pathways, antibody-mediated immunity, and has pioneered stabilized HCV vaccine candidates. Recent achievements include securing a SMS Grant (2024) for antimicrobial peptide research.
- Lab Members: Includes PhD/MSc candidates and undergraduate interns
- Collaborations: With Prof. Mark Ashush (Shaare Zedek Medical Center) and Dr. Asaf Sol (Kimron Veterinary Institute)
